DCU Celebrates 60th Anniversary

Reaching a Diamond Jubilee is a very notable achievement in any aspect of life. When a local community based organisation like the Credit Union, reaches its sixtieth anniversary, it emphasises its usefulness to its members over that period and also its durability to survive in an ever-changing environment.

Since 1964 when Dungannon Credit Union was formed by a number of forward-looking and progressive local people, it has gone from strength to strength, helping its members over the years to overcome the problems and pressures of everyday life, such as unemployment, sickness and many other causes that lead to financial difficulties.

Sixty years on from 1964 Dungannon Credit Union has grown into an organisation that currently has nearly 10,000 members from all sides of the community, almost £26.2 million in savings and 1,543 minor accounts holding shares in excess of £1.4 million. Our loan book in 2023 closed out at £7,613,216 the highest in our Credit Unions history.

Sincere thanks go to all the Directors, Supervisors, Staff Members and Volunteers who since 1964 have given their commitment and energies to building and developing this Credit Union. Some have passed on but all will be remembered throughout our anniversary initiatives.

Thanks also to all of our members who have joined the Credit Union and enjoy the benefits of a safe, reliable organisation that belongs to its members and continues to provide for their needs.
